Lena spends the night in my room. When the sun rises, I’m already wide awake. I spend my time reading Animal Farm until Lena starts to stir next to me.

Her eyes are still closed as she moves closer to me. Her naked body radiates a heat that makes me glow. She entangles her leg with my hip and strokes my chest with the tip of her fingers. I read the words George Orwell wrote down about 50 years ago, but I can’t process any of them.

‘Good morning.’ She grins at me. It feels great to be the reason for her smile. She kisses me, her hand sliding under the blanket.

Somebody joggles at my door. When it doesn’t open, wild knocking starts.

‘Hey, Ryan. Open up,’ Dok’s voice sounds from the hallway.

‘What’s up?’

‘Open up already,’ he says.

Lena pulls the blanket over her head. I go to the door and open it, creating just a small gap.

‘What do you want?’

‘Since when are you locking your room?’ Dok asks.

‘Since you stopped knocking.’

‘Is there someone with you? I heard voices.’

Dok tries to glance past me inside the room.

‘What do you want, Dok?’

‘Did you see my seminar papers?’

‘Your seminar papers?’

‘Yeah, well … not mine. My students’.’

‘You lost your students’ seminar papers?’

‘Didn’t lose them. Just don’t remember where I put them,’ Dok says.

‘I don’t have your seminar papers.’

‘Well, was worth a try. In case you see them…’

‘I’ll tell you.’

‘Thanks.’ Dok tries again to peek into the room.

I don’t let him and he gives up.
